PL4 Elite Update Mysteries

1.Opened PL4 version 4.1.1 Build 4479
2. Received update available notice
3. Downloaded 4.2.0 Build 4522 successfully
4. Launched installer, but installation never starts (tried 4 times)
5. My DXO account page indicates my PL4 software is up to date

I’ve read quite a bit of download failure episodes but not this. What to do?

I’d re-download the installer from the account page and try again.

BTW, the account page has no clue, which sub-version of DPL4 you’re running. “Up to date” simply means that you have a license for the version of DPL that is the current major version.

Same result, installation wizard never starts.

Good morning @Rex ,

This is strange.

  1. Could you, please, check if there are such files “photolab4_install_log.log” and ‘photolab4_installer_bootstrap_log.log’ in your %LocalAppData%\Temp directory.
  2. If yes, please remove them and try installation again.
  3. When your installation process fails again, please provide us with the newly created files “photolab4_install_log.log” and ‘photolab4_installer_bootstrap_log.log’

Regards,
Svetlana G.

Good morning,

@alex could you, please, have a look? :point_up_2:

Thank you

Hello @Rex,

What is your AV software?

Alex

Sony Movie Studio v13.0.

Seth provided direction to resolve my problem, I’m now running the current PL4 version.

I think Alex meant anti-virus software.

It’s great to know that you have PL4 working, Rex! Can you say what the cause of the problem was?

Anti virus is the Windows 10 suite and Malwarebytes Pro.

No, can’t say what the problem was, all previous updates were trouble free. Guided by Seth, I updated windows, suspended security software and downloaded PL4’s new version. Didn’t update. Tech support was spectacular.

That is what I used to run but found Malwarebytes caused to many issues and conflicts. Many of my problems went away (not specific to DxO software) I believe the Windows Defender is plenty enough if your software is all up-to-date.

Make sure you don’t have multiple anti virus or malware systems running as they will make a mess interfering with each other while fighting for something else.

Best case you only experience smaller problems. Worst you will not be properly protected.

Hello Rex,

Sorry but I didn’t get whether you had solved your issue or not. Please, reply here.

Alex

Yes, problem resolved. Complete download of PL4, not update.
