Tonal Contrast, Contrast Type

Hello! Under the “Tonal Contrast” filter, there is “Contrast Type”, with FIVE options
eg, Standard, High Pass, Fine, Balanced, Strong

Could anyone shed some light on the actual definitions of the options?

I found no explanation on the DXO website.

Thanks!

thank you!

I did watched the video before asking, but it explains little about the

“Contrast Type”.

I ended up picking a photo, edit with the same “Tonal Contrast” setting,

except applying different “Contrast Type” as separate layers.

.

Then pick 3 fixed locations, that represents Shadow, Midtone, Highlight.

Then compare their luminance. Here are my findings,

_________Shadow______Midtone______Highlight

Standard: __Base________Base_________Base

High Pass: ( -24% ) _____ ( 0% )________( +9% )

Fine:_____( +20% ) _____( 0% ) ________( -1% )

Balanced: ( +27% ) ____ ( +3% )_________( -4% )

Strong: __ ( +59% ) ____( +12% ) ________( -5% )

Contrary to my guess, the so called “Strong” gives the least contrast effect.
