Problem with Export from Silver Efex 3

Hi,

I upgraded to Nik Collection 4.3.5 and I am now having trouble with the export from SEP3 when working with jpgs . It looks to be reducing the level of detail in the output to a very low resolution & bit depth. The jpg export from Photolab 5 (Ver. 5.4.0 Build 1576) is fine, and the adjustments in SEP3 are shown correctly in the editing window, only on export is the file displaying the reduced resolution. When working with tifs there are no such problems.

Can you please advise?

Thanks
Scott

That looks like posterization – no idea, what you did.

  • Was the jpg-file you used of high quality?
  • Did you check your export preferences?

If possible, work w/ TIFF files for quality reasons.

Thanks Wolfgang,

The files are all high quality & the export quality setting is always at 100, so its very strange behaviour as I had been working quite happily with jpgs previously.

Ok, try to uninstalled and reinstall.
If it doesn’t help, ask the support.

@scottwin, please let us know what you set in SEP.
You could save the settings and attach them or add a screenshot.

@platypus Here is a copy of the settings I used - still seeing the posterization after an uninstall & re-install.

Thank you. Tried your preset on a few images that were sent to SEP as 16 bit TIFF files in AdobeRGB.
None of the saved copies showed any posterisation.

Tested with DPL 5.4.0 and SEP 4.3.5 on macOS 12.5 on iMac 2019.

Thank you @platypus, working with tiff export show no issue, working on jpeg export is where the problem is seen.
