Optics module automatic application?

PL 4 does not have an optics module for my Nikkor 300mm f:2.8 VR. It does however have a module for the VR II lens which is optically the same lens. I have been applying the VR II module manually but would like to have it automatically applied. Is this possible and if so, how is it achieved?
