Optics module ambiguity on MAC

I’m discovering “Apply this choice for all images with the same ambiguity” applies only to current photos, not future ones. Is there a way to make the selection here persistent for future photos with the same ambiguity (so the dialog box is no longer presented)? I only have one 17-50mm lens and am not worried about the wrong module being applied once I’ve set it.

I’m on the Mac version if that makes any difference.

I think I solved my own problem. Just don’t have any of the unnecessary modules installed. Not sure why I did.

Hello @blavis,

I’m glad you solved your problem.

Here are some information to understand how PhotoLab works with optics modules.
To match an image and a module we use several Exif/MakerNote information in following order:
1- LensName
2- LensID
3- LensInfo (for example : 18-35mm F3.5-5.6)
4- current information of focal and aperture

Information 1 and 2 are not always available (especially for cameras of old generation).
Any of this information could fit several lenses (1 and 2 are supposed to be unique but all makers don’t respect that).

So if you have installed several modules that could fit your images, even if only one is the right one, PhotoLab will show an ambiguity and it will be up to you to solve it.

Regards,
