My Sony FE PZ 16-35mm F/4 G lens is mistaken for the older model

I installed the trial version of Pure Raw 2.
PureRaw2 keeps mistaking my Sony FE PZ 16-35mm F/4 G lens for the older Sony-Zeiss 16-35mm F/4.
Sometimes it even misinterpret it as a Canon 16-35 lens!
Why is this, and is there a fix or a workaround?
If the lens keeps being mistaken, I won’t buy Pure Raw 2.
Thank you

Hello @Orio ,

This is because we don’t support yet the Sony FE PZ 16-35mm F4 G lens.

To match an image and a module we use several Exif/MakerNote information in following order:

  • LensName
  • LensID
  • LensInfo (for example : 18-35mm F3.5-5.6)
  • Current information of focal and aperture

Information 1 and 2 are not always available (especially for cameras of old generation or old lenses).
Any of this information could fit several lenses (1 and 2 are supposed to be unique but all makers don’t respect that).

So when a module for a couple doesn’t exist yet PhotoLab can propose a module for one or several other lenses.

We plan to support the Sony FE PZ 16-35mm F4 G. When it’s done there will be no more confusion. Unfortunately I don’t have a date of support yet.

Regards,
Marie
