Yes, yes, yes, there are bigger, better, faster, snazzier, … all sorts of comparatives. But… OP wants “smooth work”, not bragging rights.

My iMac (2017 model 21.5", 1TB SSD) did start to get noisy with the new PL 6, but securing more empty space on the built-in disc (not the SSD) things is just fine now. Also CleanMyMac X helped a lot.
But I would love a M2 version!
