Color Efex change of Metadata - Mac

Color Efex changes Metadata:

  • I tag my files in Media Pro 2.0 (DAM software)
  • export in DPL, 16 bit tiff
  • all metadata is there as expected - checked with Exif Tool
  • I open this file in Color Efex, edit and save.
  • Expected result - my Metadata does not change
  • Actual result:
    • Creator: Siegfried Bräuer is changed to “Siegfried Bräuer _” (inlcuding the quotation marks)
    • Lens model etc… disapears
      see screenshots for detail.

There are 3 screenshots with all the data shown in Exif tool for the Export from DPL
and there are 2 screenshots only with all the metadata left after Color Efex - the rest of the metadata is gone hence only 2 screenshots.

I’ve done a similar process to your’s:

  • I tag my files in Aperture
  • open raw (nef) in DPL
  • all metadata is there as expected - checked with Inspector
  • I export the file from DPL into Color Efex in Tiff 16 bit, edit and save.
  • Expected result - my Metadata does not change
  • Actual result:- my Metadata does not change in tiff and jpeg exported in DPL from tiff to jpeg.

So, not exactly your process, but I don’t loose any exif/iptc information at any step.

thanks for checking. What version of DPL are you using? I am on 2.1.2 only as the latest one does always crash on my machine.

this topic should have been posted in “Nik collection by DxO” section as the problem comes from Color efex.

These problems also occur in the Windows release when loading the exported TIFF back into PhotoLab. (My own report was for DxO Nik Collection 2018 1.1.) It probably doesn’t happen with all RAW file types or programs, as they use EXIF differently.
